About Dr. Robert Hayling

A dentist, Dr. Robert Hayling became the de facto leader of the St. Augustine civil rights movement in 1963. His courage and his convictions brought inspiration to youth activists throughout the city. Hayling paid a huge price for his involvement, including a severe beating at a Ku Klux Klan rally.
